In their search, Sophie and Robert happen upon evidence that could lead to the final resting place of the Holy. Alternate Versions An extended version is available on DVD and is 26 minutes longer. The additional scenes include, among others, Sophie threatening to deface 'The Madonna of the rocks' to aid her and Langdon's escape from the Louvre, flashbacks of Silas killing the other Senechaux, Silas' escape from Prison, Collet discovering the surveillance room, Fache debriefing and apologizing to Langdon and Sophie, and a scene is which Sophie and Langdon discuss religion during the flight sequence. Many verbal exchanges between characters in many scenes are extended. I've read the book, and the movie's not so bad. Obviously there are many things I'd do different, but in the end it's 2,5 hours of good entertainment, and isn't that what the ratings are all about? Personally I think Tom Hanks wasn't passionate enough for Robert Langdon.

That's why it's not a 9 for me. A lot of people are too harsh on this one. Mostly because they know the book and have very high expectations. I have to see my first book-to-film where the film is better.

Also, you're not going to hell for watching this movie or reading the book. It's based on a novel, which is based on a few loose theories, but in the end all it wants to do is to entertain. And that is exactly what both the book and the movie did for me.

The 4k version of this movie was definitely under par. There are lots of grainy scenes throughout (which are especially obvious in darker scenes), and I'm pretty sure that it wasn't something that the film editors did intentionally. I have a relatively new Sony 4K tv that was set in HDR mode when I watched it, and since the oppo 4k players haven't come out, I'm still using the samsung. I have audioquest chocolate hdmi cables going from the player to my receiver (a pioneer elite sc-99) and from the receiver to my tv. There is absolutely no reason for the picture to be grainy with that setup. I also have the 4K version of Angels & Demons, which has much better picture quality than this disc (perhaps because it was filmed later in higher resolution?).

I'm curious to see if I get a different result if I play the regular 1080p blu-ray version of the disc and simply allow my system to upscale it. I'll post an update in case anyone is interested. Fast paced adventure with violent action and even some thoughtful puzzle solving, The Da Vinci Code adapts Dan Brown's novel to the last word. Faithful in its adaptation, while Howard makes sure to take the questionable story with a serious tone. I found it helps the vibe of The Da Vinci Code as the material is well researched, but a stretch to believe, Howard instead focused on the journey as an exhilarating chase. It's really a quest for The Holy Grail.

Darkened atmosphere ripe with murder and suspense, you never know what will happen next in The Da Vinci Code. Excellent performances from the entire elevate the flawed premise to a new level of entertaining. Tom Hanks as the symbolism professor Dr. Robert Langdon is very fun. Hanks makes you believe even the most ridiculous clues and ideas that The Da Vinci Code desperately wants you to believe.

The Da Vinci Code

Hanks keeps you invested as he is quite compelling as a leading man meets everyman. Similarly, Audrey Tautou is delightful as the mysterious Sophie Neveu. She exudes charm and intrigue. You cannot help but feel for her troubled character. I really like Tautou as an actress and wish she could have gotten more roles in her acting career. Furthermore, I definitely enjoyed the various supporting cast members. Alfred Molina is perfect as the deeply corrupt Bishop Aringarosa.

Similarly, Sir Ian McKellen is convincing as the knowledgeable and selfish Sir Leigh Teabing. Finally, I must mention the absolutely haunting and terrifying performance by Paul Bettany as the albino monk Silas. His every appearance is chilling to the core.

He never feels over the top during The Da Vinci Code. He is a believable monster grounded in humble beginnings and devout spirituality.

Bettany plays the self flagellating fanatic with a zealous passion. It is a wonderful performance. Overall, The Da Vinci Code will turn away the religious and the skeptics alike. But if you are looking for a fun mystery with action and intrigue, look no further than The Da Vinci Code.

It's really a respectful take on religious conspiracy theories. I saw most of 'The Da Vinci Code' years ago; and I just viewed it in its entirety on Amazon Video (over the course of a couple of days). It's been a long time, but I'm fairly sure I never saw the ending. The reason why I believe this is because it has to be one of the most memorable film endings I've ever seen.

This is a great movie. I can't say that I'm too into riddles (although I often enjoy problem-solving), but this movie really does a nice job of pulling you into the minds of the protagonists' as they make their way through a treasure hunt unlike any other. In addition to the visual effects, the cast and action keep the story going with plenty of twists and turns along the way. Highly recommended. I'm a sucker for The Da Vinci Code film. I wasn't a fan of the book, Dan Brown's writing style doesn't appeal to me, but the film is different for some reason.

The central mystery is intriguing, with an ending that feels fulfilling and larger than life. The cast is phenomenal, with stars like Tom Hanks, Ian McKellen, Alfred Molina, Jean Reno, and Paul Bettany, it's hard to go wrong. One of my favorite scenes is between Hanks and McKellen, discussing a series of clues, I always get wrapped up in their banter. The Blu-Ray I received had an HD digital copy that didn't expire until February 2019. The bonus features are well rounded. It's a good package for a dumb-fun movie.

I have seen this movie twice already even though the Catholic Church has forbade Catholics to view it. I still watched it anyway but reading the notes behind the movie on my favorite movie site for this (IMDB); some notes in the movie were incorrect. I will not expose them as anyone can read trivia for this movie under IMDB and decide for themselves. I guess I enjoyed this movie because it was directed by Ron Howard and starred Tom Hanks (whom I have always enjoyed watching anyway).

Vinci

The musical score is outstanding especially at the end when he is kneeling at the tomb of Mary Magdalene. It is a climaxed score and I truly wished I could cry.

The book was awesome and I think they did a great job with this movie as well. Good story telling of what could have been a disaster. The subject matter is contentious in certain circles, but there is a great mixture of history, lore, and story stitching. I really enjoyed it the first time around and enjoyed just as much this time, filling in some of the pieces of the puzzle that eluded me the first time around. Good action, good puzzles, Hanks was great as always.
